The Man with The Hypnotic Eyes

You are demanded to act with your body, and in acting you become aware of how immediately your actions have a transformative impact upon time and space. Charlotte Farrell, 2010

The Man with the Hypnotic Eyes was an exhibition at Locksmith Project Space (Sydney) in September 2010. It was an enquiry into the relationship between theatre and performance art: the contexts in which these two types of performance take place, the dead objects and props left behind after a performance, and the scripts that actor, audience and artist perform. A theatrical set was built within the gallery space which was accompanied by a set of instructional acts written by Diana Smith. These poetic and instructional ‘acts’ directed audience members to enact their own performance within the space.
