Haunting was a curatorial project that looked to artists who use historical materials and narratives of the past to create ‘a world in vertigo’ (1). These artists – as though playing with ghosts – produce radical temporal shifts that conflate the past, present, and future. The exhibition presented several video, text-based and live performance works where each artist ‘perform history’ to interrogate mechanisms of oppression, reconcile trauma, and recognise lineages of resilience. In turn, propelling us forward towards freaky, Xenofeminist, queered futures.
